Another long overdue update.

On January 16th my dad passed away peacefully with my brother, Joe, and our sister-in-law, Becky, at his side. Dad would have been 91 in March and he was ready to meet his Savior. We request that no cards or memorials be sent, thank you.

We started this blog so my dad would be able to follow us on our travels around the country. He enjoyed reading them and seeing the pictures as our family had made several vacation trips to the Black Hills and Yellowstone area when I was a youngster. We also made copies of our blog and sent them to Sandy’s parents (who don’t have a computer) as the they also enjoyed keeping up with our travels.  With the computer, Dad was able to keep in touch with his family, nieces, nephews and grandchildren around the country. Just the day before he passed away he was able to be on the computer and read aloud to my brother, Joe, emails he had received from his grandchildren as we had alerted everyone that the end was near. We will miss you, Dad, and God bless you.

This is Dad’s (Rueben) high school graduation picture from 1942.

It was good that we had not planned on going south for the winter because of Dad’s passing and Sandy breaking her arm in late September. Sandy’s strength is coming back and soon she will have most of her strength back so I’ll have to behave.

We have been keeping pretty busy, shoveling snow, joined the YMCA, shoveling snow, putting together jigsaw puzzles, oh did I mention shoveling snow. We live in a townhome association, but the snow removal contractor doesn’t come unless each snowfall exceeds 1 1/2 inches. We have had many of these snowfalls and I have been taking care of them plus the ones that exceeded the 1 1/2 inches with the exception of last Thursday’s 10 inches of heavy wet snow. I left that one for snow crew to remove. I’m not sure why we joined the “Y” as we seem to get enough exercise from “shivering” in the cold. Shivering is an exercise in Minnesota (you must be burning calories doing it, right?) and it looks like we have another 8 day stretch where the lows will be below zero.

We can’t wait till the end of March/early April so we can go to California to pick up our new Lazy Daze motorhome.

Until next time,

Dave and Sandy
