Disney

After Dale and Mary arrived in mid-January, we moved to this lot in Cypress Woods. It’s big and pretty private.

This morning, Friday the 5th, we departed for Orlando where we will be staying for the next week. On the way, we passed many orange groves of which about half have been harvested. Lots of oranges had fallen off the trucks and it reminded us of the corn and sugar beet harvest back home.

Here are a couple of trucks along the way loaded with oranges.

When we arrived at Disney World we passed under this greeting sign.

An advertisement for the “Tower of Terror” in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We look forward to riding on the "Towers" elevators again.

For us to get to the Fort Wilderness Campground we had to go through the entrance to the Magic Kingdom.

The entrance to Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Most of the campsites have been updated to accommodate today’s larger motorhomes and campers.

After we got settled in a pair of mallards came to greet us, or were they there to mooch something? Sandy took the picture from the entrance step to the RV. They almost came up onto the steps.

Today we started our stay here at Disney by going to Epcot. Sandy and I both enjoy all the Theme Parks but we do like Epcot the best. The last time we were here was February 2007. It looks like they have been making some changes and one that disappointed us was to see they had changed the exterior look of Spaceship Earth. The Mickey hand holding the Epcot sign has been removed so now it looks so plain.
The ride inside was updated after 30 years and we agreed that it was better.

Our most favorite ride at Disney is the one called Soarin'

For those of you who have not been on the ride, it is like being in a hang glider going over different areas in California. It gives you the sensation of going up, down, turning, coming to a stop in mid air along with the scents of the countryside. What a ride. We did it twice during the day. However, our first "flight" was grounded immediately after takeoff because of a technical problem. We eventually took off after a 10 minute delay. Apparently , one of the seat belts was not properly fastened. The second flight went smoothly.

The only "country" we visited in Epcot World Showcase today was Canada and the 360 degree movie had been updated and improved too. It will be interesting to see what other changes have been made since 2007.

Sandy spotted this adorable Minnie Mouse themed golf cart. Some people sure get involved in their passions.

Until next time,
Dave and Sandy
