TRIP OUT TO OREGON AND WASHINGTON WITH RON AND JANE. Part 4

7-12-2007 to 7-19-2007

It's Thursday July 12 and we are on our way up to Cape
Disappointment State Park in Ilwaco, WA. We stopped at Fort
Clatsop National Memorial Park. This is where Lewis & Clark
spent the winter of 1805-1806. A stop well worth the time.

We had to cross the Columbia River in Astoria, OR on a very high bridge.

We are now in Washington.

Again we stopped a light house along the way. I think we have seen almost every lighthouse on the coast.

On Friday the 13th we drove up to Kalalock (Klaylock) National Park Campground where we will spend our last couple days on the Pacific coast before heading inland.

On our way there we stopped, no not at a light house, but at the Lake Quinault Lodge. Ron and Jane have a friend that managed the place at one time.

Then we pushed on to the campground to relax for the rest of the
day.

Our Lazy Daze.

Ron and Jane's Lazy Daze.

On Saturday Jane, Sandy and I visited the Olympic National Park.
First it was Ruby and Rialto Beach.

Then we went to the Hoh Rain Forest.

On Sunday the 15th we drove in the rain for the first time since
we arrived in Oregon and Washington while driving to
Dungeness Spit County Park. It is next to the Dungeness National
Wildlife Refuge. On the way up we drove along the shores of Lake
Crescent. This lake has a depth of 600 feet.

Nice park on the bluffs of the Strait of Juan De

Fuca. The scenery is sure different here than on the coast.

On Monday Jane, Sandy, Ron and I went up to Hurricane Ridge. A
beautiful scenic 17 ½ mile drive which ends up at the overlook
where you can see the Olympic Mountains. We had a
very clear day so we could see the glaciers on Mount Olympus and
Mount Carrie.

Today, Tuesday the 17th, was a busy day. Sandy, Jane and I went to
town to wash clothes. While they were doing that I went hunting
for a Shurflo pump. Ours went bad in the LD. Got back at
11:00AM and changed the pump. At 1:00PM we headed to town
with the rigs and had the oil changed. Sandy and I then had the best
Pizza at Gordy’s in Port Angeles, WA.

Wednesday we headed over to Port Townsend, WA. to Fort
Warden State Park. Can you believe it, we found another light
house.

There was also a defensive battery on site that we visited.

On Thursday we crossed over by ferry to Whidbey Island and
stayed at Deception Pass State Park.

Until next time,
Dave and Sandy
